Sense is rolling out an exciting new way for users to access their home energy data using the Sense Home app, and you can connect the free app using either of these two options:
- The Sense Home Energy Monitor purchased and installed in your electrical panel, or
- The Sense-enabled Electric Meter your electricity provider tells you they recently installed, inviting you to connect to Sense
For either option, the Sense Home app experience is the same. For more on the Sense-enabled meter, please read this blog, "Next-gen Smart Meters Have Arrived. Why That's a Good Thing"
What if I don't have a Sense-enabled smart meter?
This is true for most people, so far, since Sense on smart meters is a new technology. If you already have a Sense or Wiser Energy brand Home Energy Monitor, keep using it! And if you don't yet have a Sense monitor, then you can purchase one here.
What do I do when my utility provides a Sense-enabled meter?
If you don't yet have a Sense system, download the app and get started!
If you have a Home Energy Monitor, you have two choices:
- Keep sing your existing system
- Uninstall your monitor and start over to collect new data through the meter. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer your historical data and devices to a new system, but you can download your data before migrating to maintain a historical record outside the app. See this article on how to download data.
NOTE: Today, Sense Solar customers are encouraged to continue using their Sense Solar Monitor. The next generation of Sense-enabled electric meters will offer Solar coverage but the timing on this is unclear.
