Creating an account is the exciting (and crucial) start to your Sense journey.
1. You must have an available Sense system, either through:
- a Sense-enabled smart meter supplied by your electricity provider, or
- a Sense Home Energy monitor device in your electric panel
2. You must install the Sense Home app on a mobile device (phone or tablet).
- You can find the app by going to your device's app store (either Google play or the Apple App Store) then search for Sense Home.
3. You must use an email address that is not being used by another Sense account.
Troubleshooting
If you are having issues creating an account:
- Sense App Update: Ensure your Sense mobile app is updated to the latest version. Check for updates in your device’s app store (Apple or Google Play) under “Sense Home”.
- Operating System: Your mobile device should be running iOS version 16 (or higher) for iPhone/iPad, or Android version 9 (or higher). You can verify the version number by looking under your device’s general Settings icon.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure your mobile device’s Wi-Fi is turned on and connected to your home Wi-Fi network. Please temporarily disable any VPNs, mobile hotspots, or airplane mode settings that might interfere with your initial connection. For more information on connecting to your Wi-Fi network, take a look at Why can't Sense connect to my Wi-Fi network? and this blog: Keeping Connected: How to Improve Your Home's Wi-Fi.
- Duplicate Sense systems: If you already have one Sense system, use a different email address from the one you used for your first system. You can use plus syntax if that helps (this is where you start with your email address, add a + sign (leave no spaces) then add words or letters that differentiate from the original email address and, perhaps, identify how this address variation is being used. Example: someone@address.com+Sense_2
Note: You can only create a Sense account using the mobile app.
Once you have created your account, you can access the Sense app via your mobile device and/or via the Web (find the Web version at Sense.com) using your usual login credentials.
