Does Always On “Train” Sense? Will Sense Detect These Devices on Its Own?
No—Always On is not a training feature. Because Always On devices continuously draw power, they cannot be detected using standard device detection methods.
To estimate wattage for your Always On devices, use:
✅ Watt Check
✅ The Power Meter
If you want to track specific Always On loads, you can:
- Use smart plugs to monitor individual devices
- Enable dedicated circuit monitoring (for those using a Sense Energy Monitor)
Why Is My Total User-Added Always On Greater Than My Calculated Always On?
Estimating wattage isn’t always exact. A few reasons why your added wattage might exceed your calculated Always On:
- Device components turn off – Some devices have components that shut down when not in use, reducing their Always On contribution.
- Always On fluctuates over time – The total Always On load isn’t a static number, so your estimated devices may not always match real-time data.
- Overestimation – Manual estimates may be higher than the actual Always On wattage.
Be sure to review your added devices periodically to ensure they’re still active and contributing to your Always On load.
Why Don’t My Added Always On Devices Show Up in My Devices List?
Since Always On devices are not individually detected by Sense, they won’t appear in:
❌ The main Devices list
❌ Usage stats
❌ Other sections of the Sense app
However, these estimates help you better understand your Always On energy usage and identify areas for potential savings.
