At Sense we take security and privacy of your information very seriously. You’re placing your trust in us when you invite us into your homes, and we’re committed to protecting your privacy and safety by granting you full control over the information you choose to share while relentlessly striving to ensure your data is secure. This involves several precautions, as set out below.
This page is not meant to be exhaustive but describes the primary administrative, technical and physical safeguards adopted by Sense.
Access Management
Access to production systems and information is tightly controlled and restricted to those staff who require such access based on their job responsibilities. Support staff may need access to your information to help troubleshoot issues but will only access pertinent information once explicit permission has been granted by you.
Asset Management
The platform powering your Sense experience leverages infrastructure in Amazon Web Service (“AWS”) which is continuously scanned for vulnerabilities and remediated in accordance with industry standard timelines.
Encryption
Information in transit to Sense’s infrastructure leverages TLS 1.2+ and data at rest is encrypted via AES-256.
Logging and Incident Response
Detailed logs are retained internally and Sense deploys security monitoring technologies that detect potentially suspicious activity with alerting configured to notify dedicated security professionals for further investigation. Sense maintains incident response plans and procedures aligned to regulation and industry standards that enable staff to effectively and appropriately respond to any observed incidents.
Multi-Factor Authentication
Sense supports, and encourages, users to enable multi-factor authentication for their user accounts for better security. Additionally, Sense requires multi-factor authentication to authenticate into all systems containing your information.
Privacy
Automated systems process the data collected from Sense monitors to detect devices, send notifications, generate report emails, and power the Sense apps. Sense never shares any of this data with 3rd parties without explicit user opt-in on a case-by-case basis (for example, when a utility wishes to provide discounts/services to their customers in exchange for sharing limited power data.) See Sense’s Privacy Policy for further detail on how Sense uses your information and Sense’s Privacy program.
