One of the first things you should do when you start to use the Sense Home app is to set your electricity rate. For more accurate estimates of your specific electricity cost, locate your most recent bill and use the tool in the Sense Home app.
If you don't set your local rate, Sense can only default your cost to an average for your state or province.
Single Cost Plan
Follow these instructions to help you find your rate. You'll need the total from your most recent bill and the total kWh reported.
Go to Settings > Electricity Info
- If you know the rate per kWh your utility charges, enter it in the field under Your Rate
- If yon't know your rate, choose Help Me Find My Rate
NOTE: Not ready to enter a rate? You will see an alert letting you know an average is being used
What if my billing cycle doesn't start on the first of the month?
Use the Billing Cycle Start Day option to set the day of each month when your billing cycle begins. The article in our Help Center, Track Your Energy Usage by Billing Cycle & Time of Use Rates, tells more about setting an alternative billing cycle start date.
