The Network Device Identification (NDI) feature helps improve Sense’s device detection by using messaging data from smart devices on your local network—such as smart TVs and smart plugs. This valuable information allows our team to enhance detection accuracy and enable future smart integrations.
Your Privacy Matters
NDI follows our strict data privacy best practices and is opt-in only. When enabled, it does not give Sense access to any of your private content—only the broadcast signals that networked devices send to indicate their status (such as "I'm on!" or "I'm on standby!").
What to Expect When Enabling NDI
- NDI won’t immediately detect all networked devices, but it helps us gather data to improve detection over time.
- Some connected TV brands and models already have detection models deployed, but NDI must be enabled for these devices to be identified.
- Sense must be on the same network and subnet as your connected devices to detect them via NDI.
How to Enable NDI
To turn on NDI in the Sense app (iOS/Android):
- Open the Sense App
- Navigate to Settings > Connected Devices > Data Sources
- Select "Network listening" to enable NDI
⚠️ Note: NDI cannot currently be enabled from the web app.
