Connection Test: Gateway Ping Failed

If you've received this error during your network connection test:

This error indicates that Sense is able to see the address of the gateway, but is unable to communicate with it. This is usually caused by:

  • Local network connectivity problems: One or more of the links in your local network may be malfunctioning, or may be saturated by traffic, or may have low signal strength.
  • Aggressive firewall settings: If your router's firewall settings prohibit local network ICMP pings, this error can be ignored. However, you will not be able to complete the rest of the test.
