Your Sense system is uniquely tuned to your home—its electrical setup, devices, and appliances. So, when you move, you’ll need to set up a new Sense system in your next home. This requires two key steps:
- Decide what to do with your existing data
- Set up your new Sense system
Neither step is complicated, but a little planning goes a long way.
What Happens to Your Existing Data?
When your Sense system is reset—either by you or your electricity provider—all data is permanently deleted. You have two options:
- Skip data preservation: If you don’t need to keep historical data, simply reset your home’s data using the Sense Home app.
- Download your data: If you’d like to compare energy use between homes, download your data as a .csv file using the web version of the Sense Home app before resetting. Learn how to save your data here.
Important Notes:
- Once data is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Be sure to download any needed data before resetting.
- Your Sense system must be online during the reset. Avoid resetting when your system is offline.
Setting Up a New Sense System
There are two ways to get Sense running in your new home:
-
Sense-enabled smart meter
- If your new home has an eligible Sense-enabled smart meter, simply reset your old data, then open the Sense Home app and select Create Account to set up your new system.
- Be sure to do this from your new home with your Wi-Fi connection active.
-
Sense Home Energy Monitor
- If your new home doesn’t have a Sense-enabled smart meter, you can install a Sense Home Energy Monitor in your electrical panel to continue tracking your energy use.
With a fresh Sense setup, you’ll get real-time insights into your new home’s energy use—helping you stay in control from day one.
