Why is Sense retiring the web app?
The Sense web app has not been actively developed for several years. We’re retiring consumer access so we can focus on improving the Sense mobile app, where customers have access to the latest Sense experience.
When will the Sense web app close?
The Web App will close on September 30, 2026, at 10 ET.
Can I continue using Sense on my phone or tablet?
Yes. For the past few years, the mobile app has been the best place to get the latest Sense features and experiences, and that will continue to be true going forward. You can continue to use the Sense mobile app on supported devices to access your energy data and manage your Sense experience. Check the app store for the latest information on which OS versions are supported.
I have a Sense monitor; will it still work?
Yes. The retirement of the web app does not affect your Sense monitor. Your device will continue to operate as normal.
Will I still have access to my energy data?
Yes. You’ll continue to have access to your energy data through the Sense mobile app.
Why can’t Sense keep the web app available?
The web app has not been actively developed for several years. Maintaining an older experience creates additional complexity and takes focus away from developing the core mobile app used by all users. You can now also export your data directly from the Sense mobile app.
Does the mobile app have all the same features as the web app?
Yes.
Can I still download or export my data before the web app closes?
Yes, you can use the web app as normal until September 30. After this date, you can export your data directly from the Sense home app.
To export your data, head to the Dashboard tab in your mobile app and tap on the Usage card to view your detailed usage. To download your data, scroll to the bottom of the page below all of your devices, and select “Export Data.” Learn more
Will my historical data, settings, or account information be deleted?
No, all of your account information, settings, and data will be preserved and accessible through the mobile app.
What should I do if I currently use the web app?
Download the Sense mobile app (App Store / Google Play) and log in using the same account you used on the web app to access your data.
Does this affect integrations?
No, your existing integrations (such as TP-Link smart plugs and Hue lights) will remain active and accessible through the mobile app.
What will happen when I visit the web app after September 30?
You’ll be redirected to download the Sense mobile app.
What options are available if I primarily use a desktop or laptop?
The Sense mobile app will be the best way to access your data; unless you delete your account, the data will continue to appear in the app no matter how often you check it. If you have an Apple Silicon Mac, you can also download the Sense app from the App Store to run on desktop.
What options are available if I can’t use the Sense mobile app?
Sense will continue to work in the background as long as your monitor or meter is still connected. Make sure you’re subscribed to the Energy Snapshot (under Settings > Notifications) to receive weekly or monthly updates about your energy use and top devices directly to your inbox!
Does this change affect support for my Sense product?
No. Support for your Sense product isn’t changing. You’ll continue to receive product updates and customer support. Our support team and Help Center resources remain available when you need them.
Does this affect customers who receive Sense through their utility?
This change applies to all Sense users who access the web app, regardless of whether you’re connected to a meter through your utility or a monitor that you purchased.
